Our ideologies

“Let’s prepare the Minds that Will Build the City”

The youth is the backbone of the nation. To build a united, prosperous and rich nation we put at the disposal of our kids the right tools. This is done primarily through their training and education.

Preschool and primary education are the foundation without which, these leaders of tomorrow will not be able to cope with the ambitions of the state and the challenges posed by globalization.

SIRA has the opportunity to contribute in building the foundation necessary for the development and vitality of these young citizens. We pursue excellence. Through a rigorously and meticulously prepared academic and civic training, we want to make sure that every young person who goes through SIRA is a worthy and exemplary citizen. We strive to instill in our youth not only knowledge but also the expertise and skills. We will have achieved our goal when our students will be recognized by their actions and deeds. Our dream is to hear others say because of a remarkable achievement: “This is a child from SIRA!

  • We believe in the genius of human creation.
  • We understand that our role is to offer our children a platform that permits them to express themselves adequately and to believe in their infinite possibilities.
  • Their fulfillment will be our biggest reward.

Visionary Founders

The Founding Father
fondateur SIRAThe man is gone, but his legacy lives on. This is him, late Sidje Raphaël (SIRA), the man who started it all in 1999. This saying, credited to him, says all about his ambition “l’avenir du monde passera par le Cameroun à travers le Groupe Scolaire Bilingue SIRA”. Everyday we try our best to live up to his dream. Thank you Papa SIRA; Rest in Peace!

Young and dynamic! After studying and working abroad, they have decided to come back home bringing with them the best of their education, knowledge and extensive experience to the benefit of our children. Those who have been to SIRA in the last two years have experienced their electrifying energy and a taste of their innovation. This is just the start; the best is yet to come. They have a vision for our country, a plan for our school and the will to implement it.

We are continuously looking for new ideas and innovations. If you have an idea that you would like to share, write to us at: fondation@gsbsira.com.

An Experienced and Skillful Management Team

First of all parents, then teachers and to top it all leaders. It’s no coincidence they are in the management team. We have seen each of them at work in a classroom; we have seen how they handle the children in and out, how they deal with the parents, how they collaborate with their colleagues. Through that active collaboration, one thing stands out: They want the best for your children, our children and they are determined to do whatever it takes to make it happen.

The First Entrepreneurial and Global Primary School in Douala

entrep_2_carre

SIRA is more than a school, it is an ideology; It is the belief that the Cameroon we all dream of depends on the training and education we give our kids, these leaders of tomorrow.

We think entrepreneurship is one of the key competencies needed to assure the success of our kids in the dynamic and interconnected economy of the 21st century and to make sure that our country copes with the challenges of globalisation. This is why we have established a partnership with “La Commission Scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeois” in Montreal/Canada to bring to our country the concept of Conscious Entrepreneurial and Global School.

As a conscious entrepreneurial and global school, we will enable the pupils among other things to:

  • identify a domain that fascinates them
  • know their potential in specific domains
  • innovate
  • act positively towards their environment
  • be aware of their contribution towards their community
  • experience something satisfying
  • enhance their self confidence
  • gain important assets for the future

As the first school of its type in Douala, SIRA prepares the children from the get go to pave their way forward, undertake and bring forth innovations.

We want them to become entrepreneurs, innovators and leaders that our country strongly needs.

An entrepreneur is a person who is capable of transforming a dream, a problem or an opportunity into a viable enterprise.

Feel free to contact us to know more about the application of the entrepreneurial concept at SIRA.

We know where we are going

approche_1

In SIRA, we understand the key mission entrusted to us by parents and society in general:

  • To ensure a bright future for the children
  • To give the children the necessary means to make our nation the greatest, and the world a better place to live in

That is why we have decided not to leave anything to chances when it comes to educating and preparing these children to meet the challenges that await them.

In fact, we have taken a scientific perspective in the elaboration of our pedagogic approach. We have first observed children as they are growing, and their natural behavior while learning. This observation has enabled us to come up with a four- stage training approach depending on the age of the child:

Stage 1: from 2 to 5 years (nursery)

Develop the child’s ability to concentrate

Stage 3: from 8 to 10 years (primary-level 2)

Develop the child’s reasoning and logical thinking

Stage 2: from 6 to 8 years (primary-level 1)

Develop the child’s curiosity and desire to know

Stage 4: from 10 to 12 years (primary-level 3)

Develop the child’s ability to use his/her initiative as well as critical thinking

In addition tothese four main critical objectives, we are striving to inculcate into our young learners three fundamental values:

  • Humility
  • Respect for public asset
  • Love for work and love for a job well done

If you have any questions or you would like a deeper understanding of our pedagogic approach, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The transport service

When far away becomes near

sira-transport

We want to offer to the greatest number of children, an opportunity to be trained and educated following the concept of conscious entrepreneurship and globalization. That is why we are offering to parents who do not live in the school’s neighborhood, but wish to send their child to SIRA, a transportation service.

Our fleet of buses enables us to cover a greater part of Douala at very competitive rates. When parents opt for our transport services, they rest assured that their children’s safety from home to school and back is guaranteed.

For more information about our transport services, contact us or find out from the Head office

Extra curricular activities

We equally refine talents

paraScolaire_1

In SIRA, we want to train children who will distinguish themselves not only by their abilities but equally by their attitude. For this reason, through our social clubs, we have introduced extracurricular activities in our school calendar. These activities are play oriented and enriching. The objective is to act as an additional source of awakening and self-fulfilment.

The workshops of these clubs will help among other things :

  • To create a relationship not only among pupils but equally between the pupils and the teachers;
  • To look at some pupils from a different perspective;
  • To propose a remediation strategy within a different framework;
  • To develop the child’s ability to concentrate and to think logically.Various strategies including language power by exposing the child to situations that will enhance oral expression;
  • To develop the motor sensory capacity of the children;
  • To acquire competences in other ways;
  • To develop the spirit of initiative and enterprising

These activities are coordinated by dynamic teachers or professionals hired from outside. Amongst our social clubs we can mention

  • Brass band club
  • Sports club (football, athletism, gymnastics, karate, swimming, tennis etc)
  • Dance club
  • Theatre club
  • Education club
  • Music
  • Debate club
  • Circus club
  • Health and environment club

The swimming and tennis club are in partnership with Happy Sports and are paid for, just like the karate club.

For more information about our social clubs , do not hesitate to contact us.
